NIA uncovers Jaish-e-Mohammed link in Arambagh, raids home of suspected terrorist

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has uncovered a link between the Pakistan-based militant group Jaish-e-Mohammed and a resident of Mayapur, Arambagh in West Bengal. On Thursday, NIA officials raided the residence of Sheikh Sabiruddin Ali in the Sanaa Para area. During the raid, authorities seized a laptop and a sum of money. The NIA has issued a notice for Sabiruddin to appear for questioning as part of an investigation into his suspected involvement with the terror group.

Sheikh Sabiruddin Ali, a student at Alia University, holds a B.Ed degree and is reportedly a well-behaved and academically inclined individual. Locals describe him as quiet and non-confrontational, with no previous criminal record or involvement in disputes within the community. Despite his reputation, Sabiruddin is now under investigation for possible connections to Jaish-e-Mohammed, which has been responsible for numerous terrorist attacks in India. Authorities are working to determine his role in the organization and the scope of his activities.

Sabiruddin’s family lives in a mud house in poor condition and relies primarily on agriculture, particularly rice farming, for their livelihood. The family’s financial situation has raised questions about the motivations behind Sabiruddin’s alleged links to a terrorist organization. Neighbors, who have expressed shock at the news, have stated that they were unaware of any extremist ties or activities involving Sabiruddin.

The NIA’s investigation into Sabiruddin follows the arrest of Sheikh Sultan Salahuddin Ayubi, a senior figure within Jaish-e-Mohammed in India. Ayubi’s interrogation led to the identification of Sabiruddin as a possible associate. The NIA is continuing its probe to establish the extent of Sabiruddin’s involvement with the group and whether he played a role in coordinating or facilitating any terrorist activities. The agency has not disclosed further details regarding Sabiruddin's alleged activities or potential connections with other operatives.
